The culture of Trinidad and Tobago is really diverse and it has great influence of the culture of various immigrants including Indian, French, Amerindian, Chinese, African, Spanish and Portuguese. The cultural expressions of Trinidad and Tobago are music, festival and art. The nation has rich history of music, which has strong influence of Africans. Steel band music is the most popular form of music. Soca is yet well known dance music, which is a combination of Trinidian Calypso and Indian rhythms. String music with a Spanish flair is greatly admired by the upper classes.

Celebrations:

Too big for a confined schedule, Carnival season begins immediately after Christmas with public and private parties and daily practice sessions in the pan yards. Visitors are welcome to the pan yards, where the steel bands practice for the Panorama competition, the year's most prestigious musical contest.

Phagwa - a celebration focused on welcoming harvest time for the Hindu community, Phagwa is full of dancing, singing, costumes and vibrant colors. Even though this celebration is an ancient Indian ritual, it is not confined to the Hindu community.

Easter Tuesday in the village of Buccoo with its goat and crab races is known as one of the most unusual events on the dual island nation. The goat races have been part of the Easter tradition since 1925 and are taken seriously as prizes and prestige go to the winners.

Tobago's traditional culture and lifestyle are celebrated in the annual Heritage Festival, with events at villages and community centers across the island. Each village presents an aspect of the island's heritage and shows off its versatility that includes song, dance, drama, cooking and costuming.

The favorite sport for the people of Trinidad and Tobago is Cricket. Queen’s park Oval is one of the finest cricket ground in Caribbean region and it hosted number of matches in 2007 cricket World cup. Trinidad is a home to excellent golf courses. Petrotrin Pointe-a-Pierre golf course is 6,195 yards and it has 18 holes. It is a challenging course for golf enthusiasts. St. Andrews golf course is an excellent golf course with 18 holes.

Football is yet another favorite sport in Trinidad and Tobago. The national team is headed by Dwight Yorke and the team was qualified for 2006 world cup finals. Women’s football league is also conducted in the nation. Rugby is a popular game in Trinidad, both men’s and women’s leagues have keen competition.

Beach volleyball is a favorite pastime for Trinidadians. Championship events are conducted in volleyball regularly. As Trinidad and Tobago is Twin Island, game fishing is the most popular sport. The nation plays host to several international tournaments.
